Written by Duncan Macmillan with Johnny Donahoe, catch Every Brillant Thing at the Drama Theatre.
You’re six-years-old. Mum’s in hospital. Dad says she’s ‘done something stupid’. She finds it hard to be happy. You start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything that’s worth living for: 1. Ice Cream; 2. Waterfights; 3. Staying up past your bedtime and being allowed to watch TV; 4. The colour yellow; 5. Things with stripes; 6. People falling over. You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling. Soon, the list will take on a life of its own.
Every Brilliant Thing is a new play about depression and the lengths we will go to for those we love. Written by award winning playwright Duncan Macmillan in collaboration with British comedian Jonny Donahoe, Every Brilliant Thing comes to Geelong from critically acclaimed seasons in Edinburgh and New York. This funny, life-affirming play involves members of the audience, making every performance unique.
